A strong design by John Bennett, the Victor 41 is a capable offshore cruiser, with an encapsulated cast-iron keel and rigging designed for offshore while the moderate draft and keel configuration make her a great coastal cruiser, capable of remarkably good passage times in comfort and safety.
She has huge accommodation for a 40ft yacht, able to sleep 8 persons in three cabins while leaving the saloon clear, and a comfortable environment for extended living aboard. There is full standing headroom in all the cabins.
Fully-battened main, genoa and staysle provide good sailing, with the large centre-cockpit giving a safe and comfortable space, with the forward seating covered by the spray-hood.
New professional osmosis treatment recently completed.

The centre-cockpit provides plenty of room on deck, with the forward part sheltered by the spray-hood also giving sheltered space for watch-keeping under way or relaxing at anchor. The companionway descends to the galley to starboard and the navigation area to port. this opens into the saloon, with its large dining area which will convert to an oversized bed, and extra seating. It is well lit and spacious with overhead dead-lights. Ahead of this there is a starboard cabin with bunk beds, and the main heads to port. The fo'c'sle has a large storage bin, with plenty of rope handing space, with more storage under the two lower berths. There are two pipe-cots, and there is full standing headroom. The anchor chain locker is forward of this, accessible through the bulkhead hatch.
The large aft cabin is well-lit with the plus of a view out, so works well under way; there is standing headroom here also, and it opens into the en-suite heads.
GRP with typical Colvic heavy lay-up, reinforced with two full-length glassed in stringers and 4 main bulkheads. Teak laid decks.

74 HP Thornycroft diesel is a reliable 'low-tech' engine, low revving with a hydraulic reduction gearbox, driving via a shaft to a Maxprop feathering prop it gives powerful drive at cruising speeds as low as 1500 rpm. This prop gives good maneuvering thrust in both directions, but gives no drag when sailing. Cylinder head reconditioned and new gaskets fitted in 2017.
The substantial rigging has been maintained and replaced as necessary. Furling head-sail 2008, 511 ft2 in good order, fully-battened main-sail with slab reefing system. Stay-sail rigs on inner fore-stay, which is braced by the dyneema running backstays to provide extra rigidity for heavy weather and for setting a storm jib.
