For Sale Butty Mercury BBS until June 2026. Woodwork needs some attention but steel work fine, with new 8mm steel bottom and footings 2018.
71.5 ft by 7ft 1926 Horse Boat/butty built by W. J. Yarwoods and Sons of Northwich for Midlands and Coast Canal Carriers. Built using the same patterns of the FMC boats Yarwoods were also building at the time, it swims beautifully and has that Josher fore-end without being a Josher!
Forecabin and Backcabin have been steeled over, the rest of the accommodation is wood undercloth conversion with steel A-frames providing a minimum height of 5 ft 8 in, but is much higher in other parts. Windows along one side of the boat can provide privacy when moored.
Forecabin holds a gas cylinder (13Kg) under the hatch. A Webasto diesel heater provides hot water and central heating, and a 3kW Victron inverter charger provides the power from 4 120 Victron AGM batteries.
A seat unit hides a variable speed water pump, with a large 75 litre calorifier running from Webasto, or 1kW electric element. Another one on the other side hides 4 x 110ah Victron AGM batteries. There is also an LG 300W solar panel connected to a Victron Solar MPPT 100/30.
Kitchen contains plenty of drawers and cupboards and has a Newworld gas cooker with 12volt fan and 12volt ignition unit fitted. a LEC 12volt electric fridge/freezer provides economical food storage, there is also a dual bowl sink.
A dinette, one side convertible to a bed, the other side could be also, but a fold down table currently occupies the space.
The living room space has a sofa-bed, and plenty of room for other furniture.
There is a laundry room with an included LG Washer/Dryer which is very quiet, and very handy to have on the boat.
The bathroom has a cassette toilet with electric flush, a vanity unit with sink, and a shower. There is a towel rail run off the central heating.
Shelves with plenty of room for books and things alongside the bathroom leads to a changing area with a drawer unit.
There is a traditional back cabin with a very large bedhole (4ft x 6ft) with a Epping solid fuel stove.
