My Life is a 51' traditional boat, built by the well respected Barry Hawkins, I believe he only built a couple of boats this length with a trad stern in the Northwich style. As you would expect the wood work is to a high standard, with some lovely detail as expected from a bespoke built boat. A superbly appointed modern narrowboat with more than a nod to the boating traditions of the past. A feature of Venus is the mid-mounted original 1966 Gardner engine, which was rebuilt in 2008. Not only does this make it quieter at the helm but the sometimes difficult access normally associated with a traditional stern boat is completely eliminated.
