Alsager is a butty of steel riveted construction and was built for London Midland Scottish Railway in 1934. She was used for interchange basin traffic in Birmingham until she was sold to British Waterways in 1955. She was the first of twelve to be converted to long distance boats when BW found they were short of butties and worked in the North West.
We bought her in 2011 to use as a workshop and has been used as such since that time. The under cloth conversion is by Simon Wain and the back cabin an original Rex Wain.

This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of history but with all the comforts of the 21st century. The Josher “Acacia” is one of six boats built by W.J. Yarwoods and Son at Northwich in 1931 with a coppered steel hull and elm bottom. She was commissioned for Fellows, Morton and Clayton and allocated fleet number 300. Rufford is a Large Northwich built in 1936 by W.J. Yarwood for the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company, she carries a full length conversion, which was added by Brinklow Boat Services and is powered by a Lister HR2.
